Pomegranate Juice May Fight Prostate Cancer

Researchers at UCLA have found that chemicals in pomegranate juice called ellagitannins may fight prostate cancer by slowing its growth.

Their theory is that when someone drinks pomegranate juice, the juice releases ellagitannins, which get digested into chemicals called urolithins, which may fight prostate cancer.

The researchers had good results in mice and are hoping to have similar results in people. Ellagitannins are also found in other fruits such as strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, and muscadine grapes.

The survival rate is based on a survey of people with prostate cancer who do not die after five years after the cancer has been detected. It may happen that a patient survives more than 5 years after the cancer is detected. This survey does not take note of such patients who are suffering from prostate cancer but die of some other reasons.

The lump on my prostate was discovered 15 years ago. I was 66. I'm almost 82 now and still going strong. I've been a vegetarian for about 10 years. During that time I learned about the benefits of crucifers. You can find my interesting story at my blog.
